Abdi ibrahim foundation will provide educational support to earthquake victims with its new project oda

With the Abdi İbrahim Foundation, there is hope in every ODA!*

*Oda means room in Turkish.

Abdi İbrahim, a leader in the Turkish pharmaceutical industry for 22 years, has added a new one to its projects that make a difference in scientific education within the framework of social investment programs. With the ODA (Middle School Support Academy) project, implemented in cooperation with the School Support Association under the roof of the Abdi İbrahim Foundation, 250 earthquake-stricken middle school students studying in public schools will receive free online education, and the deadline for the project is September 22, 2024.

Abdi İbrahim Foundation, which carries out many projects in the fields of education, health and sports, will provide tutoring support to earthquake-affected middle school students with its new project ODA. It is aimed to support the success of the students with additional lessons to be given primarily in mathematics, science, Turkish and English branches according to the quota of volunteer instructors. In line with the curriculum announced by the Ministry of National Education and international best practices, Abdi İbrahim Foundation, in cooperation with the School Support Association, which aims to provide access to quality education for middle school students studying in public schools in line with the curriculum announced by the Ministry of National Education and international best practices, will offer 250 earthquake-affected middle school students, mainly girls, equal opportunities with free online trainings with the ODA Project. Applications for the project can be made via https://okuldestek.org/ogrenci-ve-veliler/ until September 22, 2024.

Each ODA will consist of 8-10 students

The course support program, which is prepared in accordance with the curriculum of the Ministry of National Education and has a rich content with interactive activities, will be implemented two hours a week with volunteer instructors. The lessons, which will last for a school year and will be held in online classes called ODA with the participation of maximum 8-10 students, will support students to reinforce what they have learned and improve themselves in addition to the education they receive at school. Students who apply to the project will be selected from among earthquake victims living in different provinces of Türkiye and will be included in the program. In February two major quakes, with magnitudes of 7.7 and 7.6, struck the Kahramanmaraş region and affected nearby provinces such as Gaziantep, Hatay, Adıyaman, and others. These earthquakes caused massive destruction, leading to the deaths of over 50,000 people and leaving tens of thousands homeless.

ODA will equip earthquake-affected students with 21st century competencies

Dr. M. Oğuzcan Bülbül, President of Abdi İbrahim Human Resources, Corporate Communications and Sustainability Group and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abdi İbrahim Foundation, stated that they are very excited to realize the ODA Project and said: "As Abdi İbrahim, in line with our HEAL 2050 sustainability strategy, we are working with the goal of improving not only today's world but also the world of tomorrow. In this context, under the umbrella of the Abdi İbrahim Foundation, we aim to increase the interest of young people in science, sports and education, and to contribute to their upbringing as well-equipped and qualified individuals with modern and universal values and the fundamental principles of the Turkish Republic. In cooperation with the School Support Association, we are launching the ODA Project to support the educational lives of earthquake survivor students in grades 5, 6, and 7. Through this project, which is a good example of Abdi İbrahim Foundation's mission to serve society in the field of education, we aim to support the equipping of 250 earthquake-affected middle school students, mainly girls, with 21st century competencies such as digital literacy, use of communication technologies, analytical thinking, problem solving, creativity and innovation; and to touch the lives of our earthquake-affected children through online trainings and prepare them for the future with science. At the same time, we believe that with the ODA Project, we will contribute to our children holding on to life with hope and looking to the future with confidence after difficult times. As Abdi İbrahim Foundation, we will continue to undertake new projects with our passion for healing and our sense of social responsibility."
